The Spanish stone fruit season is gradually beginning at Marni Fruit. "We're still getting peaches, nectarines, and paraguayos from the Murcia region," says Erik-Jan Thur. "Stone fruit from the northern areas is expected soon, but it hasn't started yet. We anticipate receiving substantial volumes over the next two months."

"At the moment, the quality is good, thanks to the pleasant weather," continues Erik-Jan Thur. "However, in Murcia, there has been some local hail and rain, affecting different areas in varying degrees. One grower might experience significant damage, while another may be entirely unaffected."

"We expect to see larger volumes of apricots this year," says Erik-Jan. "For peaches, nectarines, and paraguayos, we anticipate a typical season. However, platerinas continue to struggle in the market due to quality issues."

Last week, Marni Fruit also began selling the first Spanish cherries. "Our customers have come to us for these cherries traditionally because of our strong position in the market," says Erik-Jan. "The cherry-growing region where we source our fruit is slightly behind schedule, so the start has been delayed. However, we anticipate a normal harvest and supply."

Currently, apricots are priced at around 13-14 euros. Peaches and nectarines are fetching prices between 11 and 12 euros. Marni Fruit has only received a limited supply of paraguayos, which are sold at 17-18 euros for 5 kg. The firm Cerima cherries, size 30+, are priced between 55-60 euros for 5 kg. Other cherries, in sizes 26+, 28+, and 30+, are sold for 7, 8, and 10 euros, respectively.
