Hazera and TOP The Onion Group have announced an exclusive global collaboration for the supply and distribution of set onion seeds. Under the agreement, Hazera will supply onion seed varieties exclusively to TOP, which will be responsible for producing and distributing first-year onion sets worldwide.
The agreement includes joint efforts in variety development, agronomic support, and market engagement. Hazera will continue to focus on breeding and genetics, while TOP will manage the production and international distribution of the onion sets.
The partnership leverages cultivation in Northern France, a region recognized for its suitable growing conditions and low disease pressure, allowing for the production of uniform and consistent planting material. This location is expected to support the production of high-quality onion sets for various markets.

Hazera's established varieties—such as Crusado, Contado, Cupido, and Corrado—are included in the collaboration and will continue to be refined under the new partnership.
According to Erwin Groen of TOP The Onion Group and Dirk Essing of Hazera, the agreement is aimed at improving adaptability to changing market conditions and enhancing innovation in onion cultivation. Both parties emphasized that combining their expertise in breeding, production, and market knowledge enables more effective development of onion varieties suited to diverse growing environments.
The partnership seeks to offer growers reliable planting material supported by technical knowledge and research.
