Zoono Group and OSY have entered an exclusive agreement with Sharpak Aylesham, a division of a European packaging solutions manufacturer, to address food waste issues, reports TradingView. The contract involves the application of Zoono's shelf-life extension products and OSY's technologies on packaging for soft fruits sold in UK supermarkets. The agreement grants UK exclusivity until the end of 2029, covering strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and grapes.
Initial product orders from Sharpak are anticipated post-2025, following in-store trials with UK supermarkets. Zoono projects revenue growth as Sharpak scales production in early FY2026, expanding supply within the UK market. Annually, global food waste is estimated at $4 trillion, with about 25% of fruits and vegetables lost to wastage.
Zoono asserts that the integration of its products with OSY's application technologies will benefit the entire supply chain. The solution adheres to UK and EU Food Contact Material Regulations, ensuring no migration of the product from packaging to produce. The agreement strengthens Zoono's presence in the UK and EU food shelf-life extension market, supported by trials with leading supermarkets and international food producers. A UK premium supermarket has recognized the technology's broad applicability as a "game changer."
Ongoing trials by Zoono cover various food categories, including grapes, stone fruits, lychees, and cherries. The company reports positive results, achieving the desired minimum shelf-life extension for commercial viability across tested produce. Zoono expects Sharpak and its affiliates to progressively incorporate its products and OSY technology into packaging for additional food sectors and markets within the EU and beyond.
