Peruvian pitahaya had an outstanding start this year, with exports in the first quarter exceeding all shipments in 2024. Shipments totaled 626 tons, valued at $1.54 million, a fivefold increase in volume and a fourfold increase in value compared to the same period last year. However, the average price per kilogram decreased by 16%, from $2.92 in 2024 to $2.45 in 2025.
Spain was the Peruvian pitahaya's main destination with a 56% share, 352 tons worth $857,798, and an average price of $2.44 per kilogram. The United Kingdom followed with an 18% share, 88 tons worth $283,045, and an average price of $3.23 per kilogram.
The Netherlands ranked third with an 18% share, 153 tons worth $272,311, and an average price of $1.78 per kilogram. Fresh pitahaya exports accounted for 99% of all exports, equivalent to 625 tons for $ 2.45 per kilogram. Importers continued to prefer fresh pitahaya, just like in 2024. Only 0.1% of the total was exported in its frozen form.
