Over 200 hectares of strawberry production confirmed by Coop Sole

Strawberries start off with some weather disruptions in southern Italy

"The strawberry campaign has now begun at Coop Sole, although the recent weather conditions, marked by rain, overcast skies, and low temperatures, are causing delays in production and some difficulties. Unfortunately, for these reasons, we cannot guarantee continuity in quantities. However, we are expecting greater quantities from 10 February," says Pietro Paolo Ciardiello, director of Coop Sole di Parete (Caserta).

Compared to the two previous campaigns, which were exceptional in terms of earliness and quantity, this year is a normal year," continues Ciardiello. For this campaign, we confirm the areas of last year, with over 200 hectares scheduled, and we are very confident because we have done an excellent job of planning and preparing the plants, so we believe we will recover in terms of quality and quantity. We also confirm the same figures for organic strawberries as in previous years. We are therefore optimistic about this year, consolidating the work we have done in recent years.

SìBon is Coop Sole's premium line, which is gaining recognition year over year, both in the conventional and organic lines. Ciardiello adds: "The demand for our premium line of branded products is so high that we have a good sales plan in place. In fact, it represented 15 per cent of our sales last year. We are confident that this percentage and the entire product line will grow."

"We are also very happy with the work on organic and conventional raspberries. Last week's weather conditions limited production, but we're still satisfied with the results, both in terms of the varieties we've chosen and the excellent quality that our members can provide. Even if the quantities are still small, we are able to guarantee continuity of production, which is a source of pride for us as a company from southern Italy, especially since our production of organic raspberries is growing steadily."

Coop Sole produces over 22,000 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables, specializing in the production of strawberries. The natural suitability of southern soils is combined with knowledge of eco-friendly agronomic techniques to produce sweet, juicy, crisp, ethical, and sustainable fruit.

Coop Sole's environmental and ethical footprint is also reflected in its packaging. Ciardiello concludes: "There are no new formats in our packaging. In fact, we are moving towards cardboard packaging that is as recyclable and compostable as possible, but we are also increasing the proportion of reusable packaging."

Coop Sole will be present at Fruit Logistica in Hall 2.2, Stand A40.
