Op Granfrutta Zani's new products presented at the Marca exhibition

Viulèt, the new plum that exalts sweeter notes

Trade fairs are an ideal setting for introducing new products, and the innovative Viulèt plum by Op Granfrutta Zani is a prime example of this. The producers' organization announced the new brand during the recent Marca fair in Bologna, Italy. "The Viulèt plum," explains Sandro Zani, the company's manager, "is not just one variety, but a diverse range of three varieties, available from 20 July to 10 September."

Last season, the harvest amounted to 80 tons. "Although this is a modest yield, it has received exceptional feedback from the retail chains that have offered it for sale. The forecast for the coming year is around 400 tons, which is a promising starting point.

At the moment, the cultivation is concentrated in the Romagna region, but Zani does not exclude the possibility of diversifying into other regions, also to extend the calendar of the growing season.

"Innovation is the foundation of a company like ours," says Sandro Zani, "which aims to offer the market products of high organoleptic quality that consumers will remember. In the case of plums, we took a leap of faith years ago with the Metis Group. Now we are taking another chance with a two-colored plum that has a distinctive flavor."
