Patrick Bertoletti set a world record by eating 18.475 pounds of blueberries in just eight minutes at the Great American Blueberry Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fresh off a victory at Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, Bertoletti beat seven competitors in this first-ever blueberry eating event. Geoffrey Esper and James Web came in second and third, respectively. The competition, hosted by the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council, took place alongside the Beer City Open pickleball tournament, with blueberries being the official fruit of Major League Pickleball. Bertoletti won half of the $8,000 prize.
