It is dragon fruit harvest season in Guangxi, China

Long'an county, located in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of south China, is currently in the midst of dragon fruit harvest season, underscoring its status as a key cultivation zone for this fruit within the nation. The Fangba dragon fruit planting base, operated by Guangxi Jinsui Agriculture Group Co., Ltd., has recently completed the harvest of various dragon fruit varieties. This period of productivity is supported by the area's advantageous geographical and climatic conditions, alongside the integration of advanced agricultural technologies, allowing the harvest season to extend from June to February.

Zhou Yuhe, the deputy general manager of the production technology department at Guangxi Jinsui Agriculture Group Co., Ltd., reported that the base's output ranged from 4,000 to 5,000 kilograms per mu (0.067 hectares) last year. The company has developed a standardized cultivation approach over 13,000 mu across multiple locales in Long'an county. In 2023, dragon fruit sales generated over 200 million yuan ($28.13 million) in revenue for the company, marking a significant increase since 2018. This growth has facilitated the involvement of over 3,000 households in the dragon fruit sector and created numerous employment opportunities within the region.

Furthermore, the Longxiang dragon fruit planting base in Long'an has embraced contract farming to ensure product sales, expanding its cultivation area to 400 mu this year. According to Liang Jianfeng, the general manager, this strategy has proven effective, with the initial batch of dragon fruits being harvested within just two days.
