Mini Thai durian prices halve on high supply

In Thailand, mini durians are currently sold at VND65,000 (US$2.55) per kilogram, which is half the price compared to last year. A fruit vendor operating online in HCMC, Trang, mentioned purchasing approximately 85-100 boxes, each containing 20 fruits, and selling them for VND65,000-130,000. Another vendor, Thanh, reported selling 50-150 kilograms of the fruit daily, with transportation through Cambodia to Vietnam.

Vendors have observed a large supply of mini durians in the market. However, they advise against purchasing fruits weighing 800 grams or less due to potential quality issues, despite their lower price compared to the Ri6 variety cultivated in Vietnam. It was noted that vendors at the Thu Duc wholesale market refrain from importing mini durians owing to their inconsistent quality.
