Turkish agri sector ships record exports in first quarter of 2024

During the first quarter of 2024, Turkey's agricultural sector achieved a record in exports, reaching $9.3 billion, an 8.6% increase from the previous year. This performance, accounting for 14.6% of the nation's total exports, underlines the sector's resilience amidst global food supply challenges and geopolitical tensions. The data, sourced from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) by Anadolu Agency (AA), highlights the sector's robust response to external pressures, including the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

Export categories showed varied growth rates, with cereals, pulses, oil seeds, and their products up by 7%, and fresh fruits and vegetables increasing by 2.6%. Notably, other fruit and vegetable products surged by 28.9%, dried fruits and their products by 29.9%. The United States and Germany emerged as significant markets for Turkish agricultural products.
