XXX International Berries & Cherries Seminar

Blueberry and cherry industries had a fruitful gathering in Chile

During the XXX International Berries & Cherries Seminar on April 11 at the Monticello Conference Center in Chile, the blueberry and cherry sectors convened to address both technical and commercial aspects of cultivation. The event featured diverse topics, including seasonal behaviors, climatic challenges, new technologies, genetic offerings, and commercial opportunities. The Monticello venue was equipped with exhibition stands from various companies serving these industries and the broader agro-export sector.

Jorge Esquivel Manterola, director of Blueberries Consulting, emphasized the need for the Chilean industry to enhance planning, cost adjustments, transparency, selection of plant material, management improvements, and continuous training to overcome challenges and reclaim market leadership. Blueberries Consulting supports these efforts by researching, generating, and disseminating information across multiple platforms and countries, with offices in Chile, Peru, Mexico, and Spain, and a network of collaborators providing insights.

At the Cherry Show program, Esquivel expressed Blueberries Consulting's intention to support cherry cultivation, aiming to expand global consumption and promote market diversification. He highlighted the firm's commitment to spreading knowledge and showcasing new varietal options for Chile to enhance quality standards and competitiveness.
