Potato Market Update 13th March

Irish markets remain unchanged this week - consumption and sales holding steady

Markets remain unchanged this week with consumption and sales holding steady. Continued wet weather has resulted in no opportunity to plant early crops. Little if any earlies have been planted even along the coast. The weather conditions also means that there is no opportunity to lift any unharvested crop. Stocks are increasing tight with upwards price pressure.

Across the continent, stocks continue to tighten, physical prices for processing have edged up again in Germany, Belgium, and Holland and in France prices are "holding firm" at recent levels. Very little planting has taken place in the U.K again this week due to wet weather.
