Dutch company to start with Filosofo's Clemen-Dolce on Monday

"Next week, we'll be busy with Valencia Late on the market"

"With a couple of weeks of Tang-Gold left, we're kicking off with the first Clemen-Dolce mandarins from Filosofo on Monday. So far, Filosofo's Tang-Gold (selection) season has been excellent. Fortunately, this selection of mandarins had no competition," says Ronnie Moorman of Willem Dijk AGF.

This Dutch company exclusively distributes Filosofo in the German and Dutch markets. "Our mandarin assortment is rather narrow, complemented by some Nadorcott from Morocco and a few Egyptian Tangos. But those products don't really allow for differentiation. We, however, resolve that by getting sufficient weekly volumes of Tang-Gold. And, of course, starting next week, some Clemen-Dolce or the Spanish Orri."

"The orange season still has a long way to go. We're currently importing Navel Late from Elefant, an exclusive brand at Willem Dijk, too, and some unbranded options to cater to all our customers," Ronnie explains. "Despite a slight slump, partly due to the Carnival holiday, demand should improve in the coming weeks. Given the lack of viable alternatives, prices are expected to be somewhat lower than recently. We're also selling some Egypt Navels for export to Germany and Ireland."

"As for the juice market, it's safe to say that it's completely stagnant in Egypt. We're receiving containers of Valencia Late from various shippers at very low prices. Next week, we'll take stock of our arrivals and get well busy on the market. Good prices can drive volumes, and large volumes of Egyptian juicing oranges are heading to Germany. We're generally satisfied with our citrus portfolio. So are our clients, we've seen," Ronnie concludes.
