The Estrella variety pumpkin, one of the latest additions to the Sakata range of Líder Villaconejos, has been awarded the Flavor of the Year 2024 award.
Maria Jesús Pérez, an account executive at Líder Villaconejos, said: "We are deeply proud to have received this prestigious award, which recognizes the exceptional flavor of our pumpkin."
Joaquín Navarro, head of cucurbit development at Sakata Seed Ibérica, said that the Estrella pumpkin variety not only "provides higher quality in terms of flavor and internal flesh color," but it also allows marketers to extend the commercial campaign until the end of May, "thus closing the season with a domestic product."
