Peru has seen a significant drop in blueberry exports this season, with a total of 224,030 tons exported, marking a 27% decrease compared to the previous season's figures that exceeded 300,000 tons. Despite the decline, Peruvian blueberries have reached 41 destinations, with the United States leading the list with 54% of total exports, followed by the Netherlands at 23%, and China at 13%. However, all these markets have recorded lower figures.
Specifically, the North American market has seen a 28% decrease in acquisitions, totaling 121,707 tons. The Dutch market also experienced a drop with 52,554 tons exported, 32% lower than the previous season. China's imports of Peruvian blueberries have dropped by 24% to 28,286 tons.
Among the Peruvian exporters, Camposol SA led the pack with 16% of the total exports, despite a 27% decrease in their shipments. They were followed by Hortifrut – Perú SAC and Agrovision Peru SAC, both with 7% of total exports, marking a 54% and 39% decrease in their exports respectively. The 2023/2024 campaign has seen an unusual pattern in terms of departure ports.
