Fruit quality control firm opens new office in Peru

Decofrut has been involved in the fresh fruit quality control service worldwide for over 30 years. Currently present in 18 countries, it has offices in the USA, Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America and it is opening its 17th office in Peru.

Decofrut intends to boost its operational and commercial departments by creating its new company. “We want to enhance our services in commercial terms and make an addition to what we do in Chile,” said general manager Christian Müller.

He said the focus of the company is to enhance the quality inspection service at the destination that is already in operation, and to include quality at origin, promoting Safecargo services. Decofrut is also trying to strengthen the implementation and use of its software, a tool made available to clients in real-time through databases, platforms and dashboards. These provide key information about the fruit quality and inspection.

Müller said the software can be a very useful tool for Peruvian growers “who generally have much information. Our software's contribution lies in the systematization of information, which makes quality management in the fields and packaging easier, among others.”

The company has also hired Bruno Wenzel who is responsible for leading the office in Peru and consolidating its presence in that market. For the last five years, Wenzel has worked as an operations and supply manager for companies in the fresh and organic fruit sector. His academic background includes studies in Business Administration and Management, and he has an MSc in Supply Chain Management.

“I thought it was important to seize the opportunity to collaborate with exporters to continue to improve fruit quality. There is a lot of room to improve the entire process and achieve better prices on the international market,” said Wenzel.
