"Extending periods of availability to avoid losses and stock-outs"

"Vegetable growers are always looking for solutions to increase their business performance," begins Benoit Janny of Janny MT. Some of them have relied on strategic post-harvest storage to increase the value of their vegetable production. To do so, they rely on a naturally controlled atmosphere. Today, they can store and dispatch fresh vegetables after several months of preservation, as if they had just picked them, thereby extending their availability periods to avoid losses and stock-outs".

The storage equipment is suitable for all company sizes and refrigerated room volumes. The same equipment can be used for more than 20 vegetables.

Optimized from start to finish
"Smoothing out production peaks, staggering sales periods, avoiding stock-outs, selling continuously throughout the winter, scheduling planting and harvesting, while reducing production losses are all advantages offered by the use of a naturally controlled atmosphere. For example, leeks need to be harvested before they flower, usually at the end of March. But harvesting them when temperatures start to rise creates a production peak. Storing leeks in Janny MT modules avoids having to leave them in the field if there's a surplus, or selling them later.

"Sales can also be spread out thanks to additional storage (15 days for spinach, 3 months for leeks, 3 months for turnips, and 4 months for beet). This allows more flexible and efficient management of stocks, extending the selling period". Marketing vegetables throughout the winter is also "the key to success for growers, enabling them to hold customer lines with wholesalers throughout the campaign, ensuring uninterrupted supply regardless of the weather conditions".

In addition, it enables them to improve their work organization to cope with seasonal constraints, such as "securing the harvest by picking ahead of weather hazards to store part of the crop or conserving production during peak periods to smooth out sales following periods of frost.

Reduce production losses Vegetables such as turnips can be stored in Janny MT modules for up to 4 months with outstanding quality, in contrast to conventional cold storage, which begins to deteriorate after just one month.

Last but not least, Janny MT modules help to "reduce losses at the end of storage, and maximize the value of the entire production. Using this equipment ensures high-quality merchandise is offered".

Building customer loyalty and offering better prices
Natural AC preservation also helps build customer loyalty. "For wholesalers and semi-wholesalers, products can be preserved when wholesaler prices are really low. In other words, these AC containers help to strengthen markets by supplying customers over longer periods.

They also help to sell at better prices: "When the crop is harvested in September, we can still sell in February-March. This allows us to sell when there is no competition on the market, at a time when prices are better than at the height of the season".
