Hof Werner relies on reusable system from Ringoplast:

"Flexibility and stability in transportation"

Folding crates are being used more and more frequently in modern agriculture. Family-run Gemüsehof Werner, based in Dienste in Lower Saxony, also relies on collapsible crates from Ringoplast to pack its pumpkins. The 600x400x233mm hinged box was produced in green with white locking handles. The company logo was also printed on the box in white. The crates are not only used for storing and transporting standard Hokkaido pumpkins but are also already being used successfully for spaghetti pumpkins (r), the company reports.

The reusable system offers the user several advantages, says Hanke Wehber, Process Manager at Werner KG, when asked. "The crates enable flexibility and stability during transportation, but also product safety, as there are hardly any pressure points on the goods. In addition, the crates are equipped with good grips, which makes handling considerably easier for the driver. In comparison, the system is also relatively inexpensive, as unlike other systems, no fee or deposit is charged."

The grips were redesigned on request, as they could become slippery, especially in damp conditions. Otherwise, the crates are very good, and the Werner logo on the crates means that we also receive positive feedback from our customers in the food retail sector," continues Wehber. In addition to pumpkins, the solution is also used for the delivery of potato bags. Werner KG also uses picking boxes for blueberries. "What sets Ringoplast's systems apart is the good quality of the crates, the fast delivery, and the flexibility of use," says Wehber.

Customized production and recyclability
"The crates can be purchased from Ringoplast directly from the manufacturer and thus become the property of the companies. There are no rental or deposit fees, so the purchase pays for itself after just a few rounds. In short, the customer has slightly higher costs at the beginning of the purchase, but then no more variable costs," explains Manuel Hangbers from Ringoplast Ltd. In addition to stability and recyclability, the folded crate achieves a volume reduction of up to 80 percent.

In addition to the folding crates, Ringoplast has developed a special range of flat crates for the transportation and storage of soft fruit. These containers are available in three sizes: 400x300x157mm, 600x400x88mm, and 600x400x98mm and, according to the manufacturer, are characterized by their fine opening slits. "On the one hand, this prevents the berries from being crushed, thereby ensuring gentle storage. In addition, the many openings ensure perfect air circulation and cooling of the fruit in the container," says Hangbers. Individual labeling of the crates is also possible here.
