Kazakhstan has drafted a Protocol outlining phytosanitary requirements for exporting apricots and peaches to China. According to the document, these crops must adhere to Chinese safety standards and be free from quarantine pests. All orchards and packaging facilities seeking to export must be registered and approved by both countries.
Registration includes details about the enterprise and its quality system. Packaging facilities must maintain sanitary conditions, and the produce must be sorted and packed following phytosanitary requirements. Each box must be labelled in Chinese or English, and a tracking system ensures traceability back to the orchards.
Upon import to China, customs authorities conduct inspection and quarantine procedures. If harmful organisms or deviations from standards are detected, the goods are either returned or destroyed. The regulation aims to ensure the safety of the produce and prevent the spread of pests.
Additionally, the Protocol stipulates that within the first year of implementation, with the assistance of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture, China's General Administration of Customs may inspect Kazakhstani stone fruit production areas to verify compliance with the protocol's management system requirements.
The document also includes a list of peach quarantine pests, their impact on fruit, and a system to combat fungi and viruses in production areas.
