Price change for mandarins and oranges in Ukraine

The prices for popular citrus fruits, namely oranges and mandarins, have decreased in Ukraine. The average cost of mandarins has dropped from 1.57 to 1.25 EUR per kilogram. Clementine mandarins now cost an average of 2.95 EUR/kg in Ukraine, 0.10 EUR cheaper than in October.

Meanwhile, the average price of oranges has decreased from 2.07 to 1.83 EUR per kilogram. In supermarkets, price tags range from 1.67 to 2.05 EUR per kilogram. Premium oranges have also become more affordable, with prices have decreased from 2.01 to 1.96 EUR/kg.

Not only are citrus fruits becoming more affordable in Ukraine, but prices have also decreased for almost all popular apple varieties. Prices have notably got cheaper by 5-15% since the start of November. The exceptions are premium-quality “Golden” and “Gala” apples, which have increased by 2-3% since November 6.

It is important to emphasize that from the annual perspective, all the most popular varieties are now 30-35% more expensive. The reasons behind this increase include expensive storage and transportation, rising prices for fertilisers and plant protection products, decreased consumption levels, and a shortage of labour.
