The export of mandarins from Abkhazia to Russia has increased 2.4 times since the beginning of October

Despite this year being considered less fruitful than the previous one, Abkhazia has exported 2.4 times more mandarins to Russia since October, according to the State Customs Committee of Abkhazia's statistics department.

Mandarins in Abkhazia begin to ripen in late September, and from October to March, they are exported to Russia. The peak of the season occurs in December, when exporters strive to ship the majority of the harvested crop before the New Year holidays. This often leads to long waits at the Abkhazia-Russia border, where heavy trucks can stand for hours or even days in queues.

During the citrus season's start in Abkhazia, 1,908 tons of mandarins have been exported to Russia, compared to 786 tons during the same period in 2022.

Also mentioned is that, compared to last year, other autumn fruits such as feijoa, persimmons, and lemons have also seen increased exports this year. Feijoa exports reached 439 tons (compared to 406 tons), persimmons reached 68 tons (compared to 36 tons), and lemons reached 99 tons (compared to 68 tons).
