A new vegetable created by Beyond Seeds and IFAPA:

Zucchiolo, a cross between cucumber and zucchini

Granada La Palma SCA and UNICA Group, where the SCA Group is integrated, have signed an agreement for the joint commercialization of Zucchiolo, a product of the biotechnology group Beyond Seeds.

La Palma and El Grupo, which are based on the Costa de Granada and associated with Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada, are going to market this vegetable from South America that stands out for its great versatility since it can be consumed both raw and cooked.

While it's true that in South America, this material is mainly grown outdoors, the improvement work carried out for more than 5 years by Beyond Seeds (a biotechnological group dedicated to research) and IFAPA (Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training), has achieved an adaptation to greenhouse cultivation in Mediterranean climates.

Zucchiolo comes in three colors with different flavors and textures: light green, dark green, and yellow. The latter is a novelty in the world market.

In addition, 50% of the income generated by the sale of Zucchiolo goes to the social purposes of the Cellbitec Foundation, which aims to help research in the fight against cancer and degenerative diseases.

This foundation, through its Social Responsibility initiative, has introduced the "RFC Commitment" (Cellbitec Foundation Responsibility).
