Granada starts this year's second green asparagus campaign

A total of 15 cooperatives in La Vega and Poniente have started the year's second green asparagus campaign, which takes place between September and October.

According to the Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada, the quality of the product is as good as that of the main harvest, which runs from March to June, but the green color of the asparagus is somewhat less intense.

The organization recommends buying green asparagus 'originating from Granada' (on the label you read 'origen Granada') as a guarantee of exceptional quality. "The purchase of this product helps support the cooperatives of the sector, generating wealth and employment in the municipalities, and consequently, favoring the growth of the province's economy," they added.

According to Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada, 80% of the green asparagus collected in the province comes from cooperatives and the province accounts for 70% of the country's green asparagus production.
