Beserah durians gain popularity in Malaysia

The Beserah durian has custard-like, creamy and golden flesh with bittersweet flavors. It has been gaining popularity in Malaysia over the past few years, with many comparing the lesser known variety with the all-time coveted Musang King, a durian breed from Raub, Pahang.

The elusive green Beserah durians is only grown in selected orchards at Kampung Beserah. The main fruiting season for the D145 - a cloned durian variety - is usually between July and September, but the uncertain weather pattern in recent years has caused the durian trees to flower irregularly.
