The first half of 2023 is ending with a positive balance for Brazilian fruit exports. Global demand for fresh and healthy products has led to growth, this semester: +19% in sales and +2% in volume of exported fruit.
Lemon is at the top of exports this year. Around 89,000 tons of fruit have already been shipped to the international market . It is important to mention that last year the Chilean market opened its doors to the Brazilian Tahiti lemon, with successful negotiations in a short period of time.
Abrafrutas assessed the Chilean market as promising, as Chile imported around US$5 million of the fruit in 2021 and the expectation has been to reach at least 50% of this market. In addition, exports to this country tend to reduce Brazil's dependence on the European market.
Melon, mango, grape and apple also had a positive balance in these first six months of the year. The favorable climate in this period helped the production and quality of the fruits produced in Brazil, which provided a constant supply of fresh and seasonal fruits for international markets.
