Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon recently visited the Sughd region, where he inaugurated a new water supply facility in the village of Khurramdara and visited a potato farm called "Nur."
The lack of irrigation water has been a problem in the Shahristan district, affecting farmers' harvests. However, with the construction of new water pipelines and pumps, 15 hectares of land in Khurramdara are now irrigated. A reservoir has also been built for continuous water supply.
This year, farmers in the district aim to obtain over 50,000 tons of potatoes. The district has seen significant agricultural successes this year through effective land use, orchard care, and vegetable cultivation.
The favorable climate in Shahristan supports horticulture development, allowing farmers to achieve high yields and export their produce beyond the country. Additionally, new orchards have been established this year, with plans for further expansion in the future.
