Ricardo Mendes, Trust Green Trading:

"With our focus on year-round premium exotics by air, we aim to find a unique market niche”

With over 10 years of experience in the Dutch fruit and vegetable trade, Ricardo Mendes has taken on a new challenge together with partner Carlos Henrique Ferreira: Trust Green Trading. From the premises of Barendrecht, they supply the European market with exotics, mainly focused on 'by air” products.

"South American and African countries are our main target of origin. Our largest product are the Brazilian papayas, which we import via air freight. With the air freight exotics, Trust Green Trading has a distinctive product in house, according to Ricardo. "We can supply a uniform quality of tree-ripened fruit 52 weeks a year deliver exotics."

"We want to be a reference in the market with this year-round delivery of premium products. Many companies switch to products from Southern Europe or North Africa in the summer or sell boat exotics as if they were the same quality as the air freight exotics. However, you can't compare the tree-ripened exotics with products that have been in a container for weeks. The quality, shelf-life, but also the price are of a completely different order," says Ricardo.

He has great confidence in the future of Trust Green Trading. "My partner Carlos has a lot of experience in product development and production, I myself have mainly worked as a sales and import manager for the past ten years. We look forward to building a great business, working directly at the source in countries such as Brazil, Peru, Colombia and African countries"

"The plan is to move into a new location in Barendrecht over the second semester. We have our core business within the B2B model, selling indirectly to supermarkets, but also to wholesalers throughout Europe. From the heart of the Dutch fresh produce trade, customers throughout Europe can enjoy a consistent service quality exotics by air!"
