Siberia imports fruit and vegetables from 17 different countries

This year, the volume of food products supplied to the Siberian Federal District has increased by 20%. Most fruits are imported from foreign countries. By the beginning of June, over 900 tons of watermelons, 320 tons of pineapples, and over 1,300 tons of sweet cherries were imported into the Siberian regions.

Out of the total volume of imported fruit and vegetables, which accounts for 63% of the overall amount of goods, imports to the Siberian regions come from 17 different countries worldwide.

This year, the supply of fruit and vegetables from China has increased by 3.4 times, mainly due to increased imports of onions, cabbage, carrots, peppers, and pineapples. Additionally, the volumes of imported fruit and vegetable products from Central and South Asia have also increased. Grape shipments from Uzbekistan have increased by 2.6 times compared to the previous year, and tomato imports from Azerbaijan have doubled.

In 2023, the geography of vitamin product supplies expanded to include Peru. From this country, the first 12 tons of mango fruits have been imported.
