Egyptian agri exports surge: over 4.1 million tons shipped in five months

According to Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Al Qasir, his country's agricultural exports have surged, surpassing 4.1 million tons in the first five months of the year, from January to June 2023. This figure marks an increase of 606,302 tons compared to the same period last year, when exports totaled about 3.5 million tons.

Citrus fruits top the list, followed by potatoes, fresh onions, pomegranates, garlic, strawberries, beans, guava, tomatoes and grapes. Citrus exports alone have reached 1,845,989 tons, claiming the lion's share of Egypt's agricultural output. The country also exported 786,468 tons of potatoes, securing the second position in agricultural exports. Fresh onions, with exports of 281,729 tons, took the third spot, while beans, at 54,169 tons, came in fourth. The fifth position was held by sweet potatoes, with exports totaling 52,791 tons.

Egypt's grape exports secured the sixth spot, with a total of 52,556 tons. Following closely in the seventh spot were tomatoes, with exports of 43,528 tons. Strawberries, garlic, guava, and pomegranates occupied the eighth to eleventh positions respectively, with respective export volumes of 23,116 tons, 17,662 tons, 9,478 tons, and 3,520 tons.
