SVM authorized to administrate IP in China

New Zealand red pear PiqaBoo® gently combines Chinese, Japanese and European pear characteristics

The new season of PiqaBoo® pear imported from New Zealand has recently arrived in China and is selling well on the market.

PiqaBoo® (variety name "PremP009") is a new IP pear variety bred by the New Zealand Plant & Food Research (PFR) for over 20 years. It perfectly inherits the parental advantages of Chinese, Japanese and European pears into a combination of a deep red color, delicate flesh, and strong aroma.

PiqaBoo® pears are highly sought after in China due to their flavor and taste. As more and more consumers taste this beautiful and delicious pear, demand and excitement continue to grow in the country.

The planting yield is also increasing year by year. This is also inseparable from the strict management of the variety owner, Prevar limited of New Zealand (Prevar). Throughout the entire planting, harvesting, and packaging process, the company attaches great importance to quality control, while taking brand operations into account to ensure that consumers receive high-quality fruits that meet expectations. “We believe there is a very exciting future for this unique fruit” says Amanda Lyon, PiqaBoo® Brand Manager.

PiqaBoo® pear originated in New Zealand and has been authorized for cultivation in New Zealand and Europe. It is planned to develop more licensed plantings in other regions in the future to achieve year-round supply to meet the growing demand of consumers.

Through a license granted by Prevar, Shenzhen SVM Variety Management Ltd (SVM) is responsible for managing the authorized planting and sales of this variety in China. SVM will jointly manage and promote this variety with its partner Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technology Group. This variety has currently entered the trial planting stage in China and it is planned to open up commercial planting licenses in the future.
