High exports to Asia and Arab countries for Futura srl

Grading greenhouse vegetables requires special attention

Over the past few years, Futura srl has been receiving increasing requests for lines destined for the processing, grading and packaging of produce grown in traditional or hydroponic greenhouses, especially tomatoes, bell peppers and even cucumbers and aubergines. "We have already sold various units, mainly in countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia and the Arab Emirates, and a tomato system able to process 12 ton/h was delivered a month ago to Saudi Arabia," reports CEO Omar Papi.

Leonardo Papi (sales manager for Italy) and Omar Papi

Considering all the positive experiences and after understanding the actual needs of all clients, "we decided to develop specific lines for these products, not just for buyers that can process considerable quantities, but also for clients whose processing needs start from 2 tons/h and with smaller budgets. Another fundamental aspect is that we managed to develop an electronic grader that can process all tomato varieties - traditional round ones and flat ones - as well as square bell peppers. This aspect helps our clients a lot, as they can process multiple products with a single line."

Another factor is the extreme modularity of systems, a characteristic that has always set Futura apart. "We often operate in countries with a low cost of labor and, in these cases, we do not automate processes too much as it is not worth it. But, in some areas where the cost of labor is much higher, or where it is difficult to find workers, we introduce automatic depalletizing systems (with robots), delicate tilters and also palletizer and/or strapping systems for shipping."

"As for oblong products, we have had to develop a specific line for cucumbers, aubergines and courgette with shorter buckets as, in the areas where we operate, these products have much smaller sizes and weights than in Europe."

"At this year's Macfrut, we decided to work together with our Italian partner Assomech. We already partnered with them to develop systems for the processing of fennel, and we will soon deliver one for celery. Futura manufactured an electronic grader for both systems, that can grade and sort with ranges much more precise than any other machine on the market."

"The celery system we will deliver over the next few months will be the first in Italy with such sorting accuracy and degree of automation. Various depalletizing robots will be installed, as well as two additional robots to help with final packaging operations. We are happy to showcase our latest introductions to all our clients and collaborators, so please come an see us at Macfrut in stand 195, Hall D1 (May 3rd-5th)."
