Fire destroys large Mexico wholesale market

A fire at wholesale market Central de Abastos in Mexico City has put the market into flames. With a size of more than 3 km², Central de Abastos is said to be one of the largest wholesale markets in the world. On Thursday, the fire started in a wooden container and has spread to other nearby locations.

Fire teams and local authorities have come to the scene to try to put out the fire. The head of government of the city, Claudia Sheinbaum reported that, so far, no injured people have been reported.
