The Australian Imperial Mandarin season is about to kick off in Gayndah, Queensland.
The local harvest, where 80% of Imperial Mandarins are grown in Australia, is around 7-10 days later than a normal growing season.
Red Rich Fruits is expecting to harvest 250,000 13kg boxes of Imperial Mandarins that will be sent to supermarkets across the country where they will be sold through to late May, possibly early June.

Matt Palise, Red Rich Fruits Director, explains, "It’s been a favourable growing season to date; the end of 2022 saw a good amount of rain followed by a hot, dry summer which has ensured a quality flavour profile and a bumper crop, with total volumes estimated to be up by 10% on last year.
"The fruit will be absolutely delicious this year - sweet, juicy and full of flavour. Imperial mandarins are great for snacking, school lunch boxes and all your citrus needs throughout winter," he said.
"Following harvest early next week our Imperial Mandarins will be sent to supermarkets across the country where they will be sold through to late May, possibly early June."
