Valentine's Day and Super Bowl promotions characterized this week

Valentine's Day and the Super Bowl promotions lined up this week for colorful displays of sweet treats and savory snacks. Sweethearts could find roses and tulips to be abundant, along with other Valentine's favorites like raspberries, cherries, strawberries, asparagus, and grapes. Football fans had everything they needed for game time, with avocados, limes, lemons, baby carrots, jalapenos, cilantro, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Fruit and vegetable party trays were well-featured for celebrations of both occasions.

Total ad numbers this week were 268,481, a 1% increase from last week's total of 266,288. The total for the same week last year was 7% higher than for this year. The total number of ads broken out by commodity groups: fruit 138,867 (52% of all ads), onions and potatoes 21,289 (8%), vegetables 89,124 (33%), herbs 2,865, ornamentals 14,791 (6%), and hemp 1,545. The number of ads for organic produce was 33,282, 12% of total ads.
