Johannes Bliestle is the new honorary chairman of the Federal Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producer Organizations (BVEO). The full board unanimously elected the 57-year-old managing director of Reichenau Gemüse to the post. Bliestle has been a member of the BVEO board since 2010. His deputies are Dr. Bernd Falkenau, managing director of Erzeugerorganisation Dresdener Obst eG, and Dr. Henning Ehlers, general manager of the German Raiffeisen Association (DRV). Together with BVEO Managing Director Dr. Christian Weseloh, they form the BVEO executive board. BVEO is the national focus group representing all German producer organizations for fruit, vegetables and mushrooms.
Hans-Jörg Friedrich and Johannes Bliestle
Bliestle's election as BVEO chairman has a direct impact on the DRV's specialist committee for fruit, vegetables and horticulture. Bliestle chaired this committee for 5 years and has now stepped down as part of his new role. Hans-Jörg Friedrich (59), member of the board of directors of Pfalzmarkt eG, who has been a member of the committee for many years, was unanimously elected as his successor as chairman of the committee.
The offices of DRV and BVEO are located in the same building at Pariser Platz 3 in Berlin, so they are in close proximity to the political decision-makers. This will also promote the synergy between the associations. DRV President Franz-Josef Holzenkamp says of the two new officials: " With Johannes Bliestle and Hans-Jörg Friedrich, we are getting two proven industry experts as chairmen. They combine a high level of technical and entrepreneurial competence with many years of experience in association work."
