Mercadona ended the 2021/22 citrus fruits of Spanish origin campaign with the acquisition of more than 209,000 tons of oranges, lemons, mandarins, and other citrus fruits produced in the Valencian Community, Andalusia, the Region of Murcia, Catalonia, and the Canary Islands. Mercadona purchased 140,000 tons of Spanish oranges, 52,000 tons of national mandarins, and 17,000 tons of Spanish lemons.

Mercadona has more than 26 national suppliers, who in turn work with more than 2,500 farmers throughout Spain. As a result, more than 85% of the total oranges that the company markets are of national origin.

The new Spanish-origin campaign will begin in October
In the first weeks of October, the new citrus of Spanish origin campaign will begin and the lemons and mandarins of the Oronules variety will arrive in the stores. The firm will continue to incorporate various national varieties throughout the month of October and during the first two weeks of November, it will progressively incorporate oranges of Spanish origin throughout the chain.
