Ondine flat peaches enter Italian market

Ondine, brand of flat nectarines and flat peaches, has officially been introduced this 2022, summer season into the Italian market where there are two authorized partners involved: Mazzoni Group and Agrintesa, both companies are very interested in this PREMIUM flat stone fruit project.

Mazzoni Group, an Italian fresh fruit and vegetables, has just started its first summer season commercializing Ondine in the Italian market. Mazzoni is planting and promoting Ondine cultivation in the South of Italy, in the Sibari plane area where he has been experiencing his stone fruits best production since more than a decade.

Currently, Mazzoni has already planted 75 HAs, half of the total allocation of 150 HAs. Also, Mazzoni will plant 40 HAs of Ondine flat peaches to complete the flat fruit offer for the Italian market.

Mazzoni growers are very satisfied for the internal and external quality of the first harvest of Ondine flat nectarines. “The perfect shape, the limited presence of defects, the full colour, the pistilar cavity perfectly closed and the amazing taste of the fruits confirmed the high expectations. Ondine flat nectarines have shown a perfect adaptation to the different Italian growing areas. Last but not least, late blooming is a positive aspect of Ondine flat nectarine varieties.”

Ondine has been on display in different Italian supermarkets this summer. The product has been very successful within the distributors and the final consumer.

Agrintesa, the other grower partner involved in the project, is the business unit that groups and coordinates farms and farmers' cooperatives throughout Italy, with a strong experience and know-how of producers that have been growing stone fruit since the 60's.

Currently, Agrintesa has planted 40 HAs of Ondine varieties. “This has allowed us to have a product availability all throughout the summer up until September. And by 2025 we will achieve the total amount of 150 HAs which are part of the Ondine planting programme. Furthermore, we planned to plant 50 Ha=As of Ondine flat peaches”

Agrintesa’s production area is mainly concentrated in Emilia Romagna (north east part of Italy). However, in order to diversify Ondine project they have allocated part of this production in the far south of Italy thanks to their partnership with Osas (stone fruit producer from Calabria).

And with these two strategic Italian producers, the ASF's mission is to promote and strengthen the production of ONDINE and offer this flat fruit of great quality and flavour to more consumers.

From ASF team we are happy to know that the quality of Ondine flat fruits satisfies our customers’ expectations. Both the flavour and the scent are distinctive elements of our products. And the Italian consumer seems to have understood Ondine proposal –easy to eat, anytime and anywhere, for everybody. Ondine flat nectarines are the perfect snack.
