Opening of the call for projects for the 5th edition of Pink Lady® Talents

As part of its Charter of Commitments, Pink Lady® continues to innovate this year, with the 5th edition of Pink Lady® Talents, which rewards the best new and sustainable initiatives.

Since the first edition of Pink Lady® Talents in 2017, the project has grown well. “We started 5 years ago with a mapping of our members’ sustainable initiatives in order to know their good practices and study the possibility to develop them and extend them to all our members,” explains Julia Savin. “Today, the call for projects has been extended to external applicants as well. We are now looking for sustainable and efficient projects to spread and accompany in their development.”

Call for projects open until the end of October
The call for projects will be open until the end of October. The teams of Pink Lady® will then study each application and select the future talents. “Anyone interested can apply, whether they are one of our members or a start-up that wants to submit an innovative solution, for example,” explains Laurence Meunier.

The winners will receive their reward in December. During the previous editions, the jury was composed of professionals from the outside, journalists from specialized media, company managers, sustainable development specialists or mass retailers. This year, however, the votes will be done internally. “We will have our members vote to know which projects they want us to support.”

“Then, depending on the nature of the project, we will set up a communication campaign explaining the innovation and we will provide the tools to support its development. If it is a technical innovation, we will integrate it into our project incubator, the Pink LAB, whose mission is to support research and development by testing and developing solutions with our network.”

Progress and sustainability
Whether it is a technical project or related to economic or social development, “the project must respond to a desire for progress and sustainability. It is the prism through which we study each application submitted to us. The objective is to be the most sustainable and the most efficient. These are often win-win solutions, for the environment and for the farm.”

Among the rewarded projects are the real-time harvest monitoring software Pommaflow, the “Pedestrian Orchard” project which consists of growing fruit trees at human height (now integrated into Pink LAB), and a Zip solution for hail protection nets. Some initiatives to fight against food waste have also been developed (processing discarded apples into juice), as well as solutions to improve the well-being of employees.
