The Dutch company HDG Survey Group started Agri Software to market its self-developed quality control tool QC4U better. "We thought it time to throw the gates open even wider and make our complete tool available to all interested parties," says Stefan Loos of Agri Software. "The market still has plenty of room for improved existing systems. Our tool lets you share all inspection data with every stakeholder within the chain at a glance."

HDG developed QC4U for internal use in 2013. Since 2018, external users have joined, and from now on, it is available to everyone. "Agri Software wants to increasingly focus on further developing, improving, and expanding its inspection and data analysis application. We're also expanding our user service. The tool combines 40 years of experience and the HDG Survey Group's way of working with the latest market demand insights."
QC4U's creators say this tool gives users an overview of a product's quality and how its condition changes anywhere along the chain. "Our tool runs in the cloud on the customer's server, so the data remains their property. The inspection data is processed on tablets, and each product has a defined checklist," explains Stefan.
"This list is a standard set of observations to check the product's quality. Customers can adjust these lists to their liking. Also, the images you took are directly linked to the inspection you're doing. You, therefore, quickly have a quality summary, which is expressed in a color code (red, orange, or green), score (1 to 6), and shelf life."
"We'll soon be introducing three new functionalities too. One is a straightforward dashboard that gives inspectors an immediate overview of their tasks. It also provides a grip on the data to see what's happening with a product's quality. That can give valuable insights into future business operations. Then there'll be a portal and generic API," Stefan continues.
"An API is a translator to let QC4U communicate with any other software program. More and more clients asked us for a raw data overview to create their own analyses. The API connects systems and stakeholders to gain insight into data from, for example, inspections done at the port."
Transparency in the chain is becoming increasingly important, and this tool is HDG's response to that. "Retailers are also influencing the chain more," adds Loos. "They want to know, from start to finish, what kind of product they'll be receiving. This tool gives an overview of that."
More than 30 Agri Software customers currently use QC4U, and it has more than 150 users. "Most are near the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Hamburg. But, eventually, we want to go further up the chain. Since it's a multilingual cloud solution, you can deploy it anywhere. We want to get to a point where we're supporting clients throughout Europe," Stefan concludes.
