France: medFEL 2022 is underway!

The 2022 edition of medFEL started on Wednesday at the Parc des Expositions of Perpignan. Supported by the region of Occitania/Pyrénées-Méditerranée and organized by SPAS and the regional agency of economic development Ad’Occ, medFEL is an event for professionals of the fruit and vegetable market to meet. For the occasion, some twenty conferences, debates and round tables on current topics are being held. The highly anticipated harvest predictions for French summer fruit will also be announced.

This new edition focuses on the societal and environmental issues faced by the entire sector. The event takes place in Occitania, which is one of the main production basins for fruit and vegetables in France (2nd producing region for fruit and vegetables in France, 1st for organic production and also 1st for the amount of products with a label).

Clara Dorchene and Philippe Jean, representing Cofruid’Oc at medFEL, have displayed their range of asparagus and apples.

The organic sector also occupies a central place during the event, with nearly 50 exhibitors that have the organic certification. The almond sector and other dried fruits have also reappeared in France. Arnaud Montebourg, former French minister of economy and co-founder of the Compagnie des Amandes with François Moulias, came to speak about the development of the company and the sector.

But the year 2022 is also synonymous with innovation. The event promotes the startups involved in “the challenges of tomorrow” through Lab’Innov, a space dedicated to products and services that are innovative in terms of CSR-sustainable development, eco-responsibility, circular economy, zero-waste and green initiatives.

After a cancellation last year due to the pandemic, 2022 marks the return of this key event for the fruit and vegetable industry in France, with positive feedback from the exhibitors and a lot of visitors.
