"We are promoting 650 gram packets of IQF garlic cloves destined to the H&R/catering sector. Our objective is to guarantee supplies all year round, overcoming the problem of product seasonality. The processing and sorting of peeled cloves is carried out directly by our facilities without the addition of chemicals throughout the entire chilling / freezing / packaging process," explains Pierluigi Marconcini from Mazzoni Group.
IQF is the acronym of Individually Quick Frozen and indicates the process through which products are frozen individually, meaning the single ingredients are frozen separately from each other.
"In addition from standing out on the market due to its significant intrinsic quality (as it derives from the Voghiera PDO), the product can also provide a service to final users, as it can be used in recipes directly and last in fridges for a long time once the packet is open."
This is part of a renewed commitment to promote garlic and its by-products - both fresh and processed - "verticalizing the offer directly to final consumers and strengthening our presence in big retail chains in sections other that the fresh produce one."
"Mazzoni was set up around 10 years ago in the area producing PDO garlic from Voghiera, in the Ferrara province. The Mazzoni agricultural businesses are historically focused on garlic cultivation and they control all phases directly - production, harvesting and packaging - employing all those agronomic techniques that comply with the 'zero residue' specification."
"Over the years, we received good feedback from leading domestic and foreign businesses committed not only to promoting Italian products, but mainly to guaranteeing final consumers a certain origin and a short chain in each passage: from harvesting, to distribution and to final consumers."
