Freshly cut lettuce and baby leaf are products that are highly suitable for processing, and now even more so with GNA's new weighing, filling and packing line. "Our Complete Line is an all-in-one solution to pack leafy vegetables accurately while maintaining all product properties. With this line, even the most delicate products can be processed in an accurate and gentle manner," according to the company's press release.
Complete Line is a modular system, adaptable to the customer's needs and can be supplemented with specific accessories and devices. For example, by inserting a belt, the same line can be adapted to be used with a vertical packaging machine.
The line consists of the following elements: a sorting conveyor for selecting and checking the product; a feeding conveyor to bring the product to the weighing scale; a 14-head weigher that guarantees maximum weighing accuracy; an unstacker that prepares the empty punnets to be filled with the material; an octagonal filling carousel that guarantees an accurate filling result; a buffer conveyor that moves the punnets to the packaging machine; an automatic synchronizing device that ensures the correct amount of material in the machine; and finally the horizontal or vertical flow pack wrapper machine.
"The key aspect that ensures that the machine handles the product as
gently as possible is the reduced drop distance from the multi-head weigher to the filling carousel or vertical flow wrapper, the adequate protection provided in different parts of the machine where the product goes through, and the installation of funnels to reduce the drop distance and increase speed," is how GNA describes its machine.
The structure consists entirely of stainless steel and anodised aluminium and is designed to prevent the product from sticking to the machine. The line is also very easy to clean. All electrical parts are protected and have water-repellent coatings and seals.
In 2021, GNA exported its machines to several countries, including the Nordic countries, Iceland, Russia, Germany, Poland, France, Switzerland, Greece, the Netherlands and India.
