A machine to mechanically de-stem strawberries destined for processing

The company PND stands out once again for meeting the demand for strawberry processing.

We talked about this with a great expert in fruit cutting - Virginia Cascella - who told us how PND approaches strawberry de-stemming.

Virginia Cascella

"Our company has developed the DF12 or DF24 de-stemmer, a valid ally of food and cosmetic processing companies, which is used to remove the stalk in the upper part of the fruit and, on request, cuts it into halves or fours, guaranteeing an excellent yield and a delicate treatment," explained Cascella.

Strawberry processing has seen, in the last years, a remarkable growth. In the past it was processed only in the seasonal months, that is in spring, when the fruit was cultivated in a natural way; today, instead, thanks to greenhouse cultivation, strawberries are available all year round and imported in different countries, therefore allowing their processing for 12 months a year. In terms of consumption, this reference responds very well. As a matter of fact, the demand for specialized machinery is continuously increasing.

"Thanks to its innovative design, the DF12 or DF24 de-stripper can replace manual work and process strawberries while avoiding the mechanical damage of automated processing. This is possible because the machine uses a precision system for an extremely precise cut. he standard model, made of food-grade stainless steel, includes a merry-go-round conveyor belt that allows to have the product tailored to the operator's needs at all times and a positioning belt that transports the strawberries to the cutting heads, allowing the product to be de-stemmed and cut as required. The machinery, which has improved over the years, is now able to process strawberries of different diameters, from 18 to 55 mm, and can also process radishes."

"Our device allows to process the dry product, without wasting water, with a waste reduced to a minimum and in a short time. Labor savings, high quality of the finished product, ease of use, maintenance and cleaning, are the advantages noted by the purchasers of the machine."

Processing takes place in three phases: product alignment, removal of the petiole and fruit ejection.

PND, one of the most innovative companies in the construction and marketing of fruit processing machines, has consolidated its leadership on international markets over time. The company's attention to the customer is an essential requisite, where the client is assisted from the design stage to the purchase and commissioning of the machine, no matter where in the world they are located.
