Olivier Maugeais, Pom’Evasion:

“The Bio Jolly Nouveau: an apple, a juice and nothing else!”

It's autumn, the Beaujolais nouveau is flowing and for Pom’Evasion, it is the Bio Jolly Nouveau that can now be tasted. “We launched our own range of apple juice with the producers of Henriette Jolly Bio for the Natexpo fair last month. We are just now starting to sell it to wholesalers and specialists,” explains Olivier Maugeais, director of Pom’Evasion.

An innovative juice made with only one variety of apples
Besides the nod to France’s most popular primeur wine, the Pom’Evasion team wanted to innovate with the creation of a unique apple juice. “We had a processing unit, but we are first and foremost apple producers. So we chose to create a juice that was as close as possible to our product, without artifice and in all simplicity. That is why we offer 6 different juices, one for each variety. When drinking a glass of Granny juice, we want consumers to feel like they are biting into a Granny apple. It also simply seemed coherent to us for a Granny producer to make a Granny juice.”

“The same goes for the Gala, Ariane, Jonagold, Goldrush and Golden. We wanted to create a high-quality apple juice, with a single variety, organic and without any additives, added sugars or preservatives. The Bio Jolly Nouveau is an apple, a juice and nothing else! In terms of clarity and simplicity for the consumer, we cannot do much better than that!”

A juice processed directly on site
For the taste of the apple juice to be as close as possible to the apple itself, the company developed a very precise processing method. “We bring back the taste of the apple thanks to a very specific process by pressing and bottling the juice directly. We then package our juice in glass bottles of 75cl, a neutral and infinitely recyclable material. Making apple juice is a real asset for our producers who can now value their entire production. But once again, we are first and foremost apple producers so we want to keep it to reasonable quantities in line with the market.”

Beyond organic farming
The juices are organic and tasty, but they also come from an agro-ecological production. “We often say that our products are 100% French, 200% organic - produced according to organic and agro-ecological methods - and 300% tasty! We are part of the association ‘Pour une Agriculture du Vivant’ and we have been following a long-term approach to preserve biodiversity.”
