Three additional vessels for the French market between December 2021 and February 2022

The CMA CGM Group has announced the reinforcement of its services to France with the deployment of 3 vessels for the French market.

In total, nearly 30,000 additional TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) will be transported from Asia to France.

Three vessels representing nearly 30,000 TEUs
The first vessel, the CMA CGM TITAN, made a first stop at Marseille-Fos between November 25th and 27th and is now on its way to Dunkirk where it will stop on the 3rd of December, before Le Havre.

On board the CMA CGM TITAN, more than 9,000 TEUs mostly loaded with furniture, household appliances, DIY and decorative items, toys, bikes and scooters, auto parts.. All of the merchandise will then be transported to the final destinations in order to supply French manufacturers and stores for the upcoming holiday season.

The CMA CGM TITAN vessel will be followed in the coming days and weeks by the APL LE HAVRE, and the APL GWANGYANG.

CMA CGM mobilized to reinforce its service to France
This exceptional mobilization is one of the many actions taken by the CMA CGM Group worldwide, and more particularly for the French market:

+900 additional TEU space allocation per week from Asia, compared to 2020 (+2,200 compared to 2019);
Le Havre is added to the FAL 1 rotation, emblematic line of the group between Asia and Northern Europe, in addition to Dunkirk, already on the route;
Integration of the largest vessels in the Group’s fleet to Le Havre and Dunkirk (9 vessels of 23,000 TEUs). These vessels, under French flag and commanded by French officers, are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG);
Deployment of 15,000 TEUs to Marseille-Fos to replace vessels of 11,000 TEUs. These vessels, under French flag and commanded by French officers, are powered by LNG.
Additionally, on September 9th, the Group took the decision to freeze its spot freight rates until February 1st 2022 in order to give more visibility to its clients in a context where spot freight prices keep increasing due to the congestion at the ports and the very strong imbalance between demand and effective shipping capacity.

Globally, the CMA CGM Group has strongly reinforced its maritime fleet to support its clients worldwide.

- 5.9% increase in shipping capacity between September 2020 and September 2021;

- 10 new owned vessels and 3 new chartered vessels of 15,000 TEUs have been reinforcing the fleet of the Group since the beginning of the year;

- Acquisition of 51 second-hand vessels since January 1st 2021;

Container fleet: 800,000 additional containers over 15 months to reach 4.8 million units.

With this new action and the mobilization of its teams in Marseille, Dunkirk, Montoir, Le Havre and Paris, the CMA CGM Group remains fully mobilized for its clients in order to reinforce its services to France in a context where pressure is high on supply chains worldwide.
