The selection Sole e Maccheroni by Teorema Mediterraneo Srl - Italy

A new line of dehydrated vegetable seasonings

"The added value of a company with 100 years of history lies in the know-how and streamlined structure that includes important generational changes taking place over the years. This is how Teorema Mediterraneo was born from the parent company founded in the 1920s. More recently, the new product line Sole e Maccheroni was presented at TuttoFood 2021. It is dedicated to the preparation of dehydrated seasonings for pasta and risottos, soups, pureed soup and crunchy fruit," said Rossella Spatola, young entrepreneur and owner of Teorema Mediterraneo Srl.

Rossella Spatola, owner of the company Teorema Mediterraneo Srl

Teorema Mediterraneo is a part of a family business that belongs to Imepa, the parent company based in Nocera Inferiore (SA), specialized in drying fruit and vegetable products. The company's large 6,000 square meter facility has an area of about 400 square meters dedicated to the processing and transformation of jams, dried fruit spreads and condiments, including an agricultural plot used to experiment new varieties or to test agricultural production techniques. Teorema Mediterraneo produces several product lines of jams, dehydrated vegetables, organic herbs and spices, seeds and berries, herbal teas.

"We presented our new brand at TuttoFood 2021. The agreement with the parent company allows us to process raw materials and control the supply chain. Therefore, the product is fresh, selected, dried at controlled temperatures, and available in a wide variety of flavors."

"My family's company, operates in the ingredient sector and produces dehydrated vegetables and vegetables, herbs, spices and natural flavors for the industry. We have our own lands, but in view of an increase in production, we have rented fields in other areas of Campania and Sicily. Since I was very young, I have participated in fairs and internationalization projects and in 2012 I moved to Brazil to open a business to import food products. It was a significant experience, which fostered the creation of Teorema," explained Rossella Spatola.

The company dedicates particular attention to the working processes, by constantly investing in new equipment to guarantee quality in the finished product. One of the latest investments concerns a fully automatic grinding machine, which guarantees delicate processes, designed not to stress or heat the raw material, thus leaving all its properties intact.

In metropolitan areas where workers have little time for cooking, the dehydrated vegetable mixtures for preparing pasta sauces, based on mixed vegetables and mushrooms, enriched with spices and aromatic herbs and available in 50g and 100g sachets, and in 500g and 1kg packages, are particularly sought after.

"Fruits and Spices, the sweet line of Teorema Mediterraneo, is enriched with jams in the following flavors: Orange and Cinnamon, Orange and Chia Seeds, Lemon and Mint, Lemon and Ginger available in 220-grams glass format. The new line of homemade creams includes Pistachio, Hazelnut, Milk and Hazelnut, Lemon, Dark, White Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Coconut. We do not use pectin or preservatives, but only fruits that have been processed from fresh lemon juice, spices and/or vegetables and sugar."

"It is very challenging to ensure the quality of every single ingredient, because this means monitoring the entire production chain, which is especially difficult at a time where raw materials are not easy to find, and this has also resulted in having to modify/change recipes, depending on the availability of the ingredients.”

Above all, we aim to gain market share in foreign countries, where we are present with a 35% market share in Germany, France, the Netherlands, the USA and Australia.

Our competitors are not the big brands, also because we are talking about a product that is artisanally processed from the very first ingredients and a short supply chain. We combine product quality with a philosophy based on healthy eating,” concluded Rossella Spatola.
