Eco-designed, 100% cardboard and 100% recyclable

Prince de Bretagne: New recyclable tomato trays

Prince de Bretagne sells more than 80% of its production in bulk, but some products cannot go without packaging, whether it is for reasons of hygiene, quality or preservation. The cooperative of Breton producers is a precursor in cardboard packaging with the organic tomatoes, in line with its zero-plastic objective within 5 years. The cooperative now offers new trays that are eco-designed, 100% cardboard and 100% recyclable, for the tomatoes Saveurs d’Antan and Elongated Cherry.

“Accommodating societal expectations with the work of the producers in order to continue to produce good products, well and responsibly and to remain a solid sector 20 years from now, are the objectives of Prince de Bretagne. The sustainability of an entire part of the economy and the durability of the profession of fruit and vegetable producer are at stake,” explains Marc Kerangueven, president of Prince de Bretagne.

The new packaging, made with cardboard that is FSC certified, should help save 9.6 tons of plastic for the 750g tray and 6.6 tons for the 250g tray.

Thanks to their openings, these new trays also offer optimized visibility to the consumers who can check the quality and freshness of the product before buying it.
