The new late pigmented orange season has just started for the Spanish company Citrus Nostrum. The Red Kalesi orange, with its orange skin and ruby red flesh, is its flagship product in this category.
"At Citrus Nostrum, we are starting our third commercial campaign with this variety, of which we plan to harvest and market around 500,000 kilos in Europe, mainly in Italy, France, Germany and Spain, although we are also ship to the Canadian market," says Francisco Guanter, Technical Director of the company Citrus Nostrum, based in Andalusia and Valencia, which is a pioneer in the cultivation and marketing of red-fleshed citrus.
The production plots are located in the provinces of Valencia, Alicante, Seville and Huelva, so the company can guarantee a stable supply during the marketing period. "Customers are already receiving the first shipments, which have been well received by the market, and we hope to be able to continue supplying for a few more months," says the producer and exporter. These red oranges are sold under the Red Kalesi brand, which has a new presentation this year; a very attractive box that should give a boost to exclusive red pulp varieties, presented as 'Dragon Energy'.
"The motto 'Dragon Energy' applies to all the highly pigmented oranges we grow at Citrus Nostrum. This gives continuity and presence to our Red Kalesi brand from November to July. In these times when pigmented citrus fruits are not abundant, we differentiate ourselves with an orange as exclusive as this one, which has a very refreshing taste for this time of the year and a greater amount of juice, with a good balance between sweetness and acidity," says Francisco Guanter.
"We aim to inform our customers and the consumers of the important differences and benefits of the Red Kalesi compared to other citrus fruits currently available on the market. The main difference lies in the red color of its pulp, which is due to its high lycopene content; a very healthy substance. Red Kalesi oranges also have high levels of antioxidants; higher than most oranges. Combine this with vitamin C levels as high as those of other oranges, and we may possibly be dealing with one of the healthiest oranges in the world. You have to try it!" says Francisco Guanter.
