This week, trade across all sectors continued at a slow but relatively consistent pace. Volumes were behind usual for most sectors. With lockdown measures still firmly in place this is not unexpected. Restrictions ease from next week, so hopefully further demand will come with it.
Planting is well underway in the South of England and Wales, for many. For the rest of GB it has generally been too wet, although some are managing to work ground in selected fields.

Packing
Packhouses continue to move contracted material with limited free-buy demand. Maris Piper is still gaining a significant premium over Whites as supplies of grade 1 quality Piper tighten.
Bags
Volumes remain fairly stable this week in the bags trade. Although traded volumes remain relatively low for the time of year many are saying it is a little more consistent than it had been earlier this season.
Easter is around the corner and stage one of the government roadmap out of lockdown is due to kick in on Monday. With this, there is hope that more movement of people will help some takeaway premises. Demand for Agria seems to be heightened, which follows seasonal trends. This has supported prices for this variety.
