Les Vergers Des Tours:

“We follow all the seasons, which allows us to work every month of the year”

Les Vergers Des Tours offers a wide range of fruit and vegetables, allowing the company to work all year round. “We follow the seasons one by one so we are able to work every month of the year,” according to the owner, Patrick Kuster.

With “Having all products, produced in the Provence at all times” as its standard, the company’s offer ranges from caviar lemons to cherries, apricots, strawberries, potatoes, green peas, snow peas, asparagus and tomatoes, among others. Les Vergers Des Tours has a panel of 2,000 producers and a yearly production volume of 80,000 tons. The company supplies wholesalers on the different MIN markets of France, stores specialized in fresh products, as well as some supermarkets with a direct presence of the Provence identity.

Pandemic and consumption trends
The restaurant sector usually represents 30% of the company’s revenue. But the closure of restaurants as part of the sanitary measures resulted this year in a 4% decrease in revenue. This loss was however compensated by the shift in sales to small retailers. “2020 was not a bad year, but it was relatively chaotic to manage. There were many stressful moments, but looking back, we did pretty well compared to some other professions.”

The owner also notes changes in consumption patterns as a result of the pandemic. Regarding the packaging and origin of products, consumers now seem to buy more packaged products, especially trays, and prefer local products. “I think that increased public awareness about the green belts and more geographically localized productions will benefit us.”

About Les Vergers Des Tours
Located in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, Les Vergers Des Tours was created in 1994 with the intention of selling products from the Provence only. Today, the company has a team of 18 people. The marketing is partly done in directed flow - from producer to client directly - but most products go through a warehouse where the orders are prepared.
